Inbox sender profiles
You can now use your inbox as your primary sending profile. For the longest time, users have been the primary sender profile used for sending tracks to other inboxes.
Your inbox is now both your from and to. That means it acts similar to an email address. You send emails from your email address and you also receive emails to your email address. It's your primary identity. This is now the same for inboxes. If you're sending tracks, you're actually sending tracks as that inbox, and the profile associated with that is what is seen by the recipients of your tracks. This is a universal and more simplified approach.
It's important to look into the settings and how this will work so that you're prepared for sending tracks in the future inside Inbox via composer.
Composer from select
When sending tracks via Composer, you'll see the list of inboxes associated with the workspace. You'll be able to pick which one you're sending as. For example, if you're a DJ and you have a DJ inbox, you'll be able to send as your artist profile. If you have a label as well, you'll be able to send tracks as the label.
This makes sense if you're sending demos as a DJ or promos to another DJ/label. You'll be able to do this as the artist that you are, meaning it doesn't matter if your tracks are signed elsewhere. You can send them as and when and as the DJ profile that you are.
On the other hand, if you've signed demos through TrackStack and you need to send promos out as that label, this is now much easier because you can flick between the two. You're also able to create additional inboxes to account for other labels or other artists' aliases you might be representing.
Sent from
We've also improved and clarified the way sent tracks are within workspaces. Now you'll be able to see which inboxes tracks have been sent as and by which user.
Both of these things remain true. If you have a workspace with multiple team users and they're sending tracks on behalf of a particular inbox (e.g. they're sending on behalf of a particular DJ or they're sending promos out as a label but actually are within a team context), you'll be able to see this more clearly.
Inbox Profile Settings
Making sure your inbox profile clearly represents your brand as a DJ, artist, or label is now much easier in the settings. You can add your bio, display name (as it's seen by both recipients and people sending you tracks as well as connected accounts for your Spotify, Beatport, and Instagram profiles). You can also add additional reference links you might be able to share.
We have a complete redesign of inbox profiles coming in the next couple weeks which we're really excited about. This will help showcase your inbox profile to potential artists and to potential labels more clearly.
Inbox Display Name
It's important to remember that your display name for your inbox now represents your brand name, so if you have anything like "my inbox for tracks" that doesn't fully represent your brand, it's important to update this to exactly reflect your artist or label name.
Genre Filtering
Finally making sure that we only allow music that you really like, we've added genre filtering. This is a switch which you can switch on and off as and when you'd like to. This basically limits the genres that you've selected for people artists trying to send you tracks.
You can see here we've got 4 genres selected, that means when a artist or label is trying to send you tracks they can only select for these 4 genres. This reduces the chance for artists who might be sending you something outside your genre selection or preferred genres. This also means that you might not get potential wildcat tracks in your inbox.
If you're someone who prefers to get exactly what you like and you know what you're looking for, this is a great setting to enable and we recommend enabling this.
